Is it too Early for Spring Cleaning?

I’m not talking about your house.  I’m talking about your insides.  Something about the post holiday/warm winter weather/multiple gatherings/reasons to celebrate/having a six month old and I am feeling sluggggggish.

I have never done a juice cleanse.  Ever.  As much as I am a fan of “juicing” and love my juicer, I have never lived on juice alone for a period of time.  Even a day.

But I think I’m ready.  I am trying to decide between these three:

Pressed Juicery– This one stands out to me because in addition to the six juices you will have each day, for a small fee they recommend adding Chlorophyll and Aloe Vera Cleanse waters to aid in digestion and raise alkaline levels.

BluePrint Organic- I admit it, I want to try this one because your final juice of the day, your treat juice, is called Cashew Blueberry Boom. ‘Nuf said.

Suja Juice is already one of my favorites.  I always have two or three in my fridge but their Green Freak Cleanse appeals to me for a number of reasons.  It looks the healthiest, I know I already like their stuff, and their founder Annie Lawless is a true BEC Badass >>>look her up here, you will die<<<.

In the mean time, shoot me a message if you have any advice, insight, recommendations, warnings, or prayers!

I will be sure to let you know which one I choose and how it goes.

Thanks guys!

5 Reasons to Drink more Water

cucumber water

One of the first questions we ask our clients is how much water are you drinking? 90% of the time the answer is, “not enough.” Don’t feel bad, most Americans are not drinking enough water. In fact, 75% of Americans are walking around right now chronically dehydrated. CRAP?! 75% That is scary….

WHY is it important for us to hydrate? I am not talking vitamin water, Gatorade, Coca-Cola zero, tea, coffee, beer, vodka, or any other method of liquid intake on the market. I am talking strait, clean, refreshing water. This is the foundation to new beginnings or enhancing your current clean eating lifestyle.

5 reasons to drink more water.

Are you trying to lose weight? Water suppresses the appetite. Your brain will mistake dehydration for hunger so, when we cannot figure out WHY we are still hungry after that hefty snack or meal, drink more water. Drink water before every meal, coffee, tea, etc. You will start to see that you may actually be dehydrated and not hungry.

Nutrient content. We want to get the best out our vitamins and food. You know that 30 dollar multivitamin you bought last month that you are painstakingly taking every day? You need water to absorb that! You need water assist with every function in your body. You must be hydrated to absorb those nutrients in the body.

Energy! Who does not want more energy? We all look at our 4 year olds and wonder if we will ever have that much energy again… or your super active friend standing next to you, AHEM (tiffany). Nutrients give us energy, therefore dehydration has the opposite effect.. we are D R A G G I N G. I notice that 95% of the time my 3 o’clock slump is from not drinking enough water!

Let’s talk superficial. Who does not want clear skin? You know those chicks with glowing skin? What is their secret? You can put all of the 100 dollar bottles of goop on your face, travel the depths of the sea for sea poop and make a mask, but water is the #1 answer to beautiful skin. We have plenty of tips for your skin and hair but the foundation to everything is w a t e r! So whether you are in the club, rocking out in the car, or on the couch… pop those water bottles.

Flush out those toxins. You read it in Shape Magazine, the nutrition expert on GMA is always dropping the phrase, and these cleanses say you need to get rid of them.. yep, toxins are hard to avoid. A lot of these toxins are environmental. When you are running and have a tractor trailer hit the gas as he goes by, he just crop dusted you with toxins. It’s life. Toxins are everywhere. What is the number one thing we can do every single day to flush them from our system? That’s right sister, drink that water. Literally flush those toxins down the drain.

We want you to CRAVE it because we are here to assist you in healthy addictions. Yes, it is possible to be addicted to water.

INFUSE IT! We all want pretty. Let’s pretty up your water AND enhance it with nutrients. This way, you want to drink it. Find recipes on Tiffany’s bling here.

We want to challenge all the BEC babes out there to increase your water intake for 2 weeks and tell us how it has changed you!

BEC Karma Cleanse.

Karma Cleanse

karma: the force created by a person’s actions that some people believe causes good or bad things to happen to that person

So there it is. Are you a believer in karma? Maybe you are or maybe you’re not. I don’t think it really matters. The bottom line is, if you are kind, good-hearted, warm, and just old fashion nice….then those similar type of people will gravitate to you. Does that mean nothing bad ever happens to nice people. Of course not. But with positivity and love, good things are much more likely to happen. Try it this week and see how it goes.

1.Tell someone in your life why you are grateful for them. In person or in a handwritten note. (make a mental note of how this person reacts and how you feel inside after you tell them)

2. Make it a point to show an act of kindness to someone, even a stranger. Literally go out of your way. (see how it feels when you see/hear their reaction)

3. Check your motives. If it is to cause harm, or sadness, or revenge…rethink your plan and try to come up with a new one. I usually like to try the “kill them with kindness plan.”(even when you really want to kick their a–!) Sometimes that is harder done than said, but it almost always works. For real. I’m talking about a 95% or greater success rate. It’s hard for people to act harshly to a really nice person.

4. Forgive someone. Let it go. Most often, the grudge we are so determined to hold only affects ourselves. The person we decided to hold the grudge against is usually walking around living life without a clue. So talk it out and let it go.

5. Repeat.

In the health and wellness industry we talk a lot about juice cleanses. And I am a fan as I ordered a juice cleanse just yesterday. But for me, the cleanse that works best every single time is the Karma Cleanse. Life can be insane. It is so easy to get caught up in the little things. (well, for me anyway) I got upset about the DUMBEST thing ever the other day. We were going somewhere for brunch and I checked online to make sure the restaurant was still serving their brunch menu at the time we would arrive. They were. We arrived and looked at the brunch menu and were excited to place our order. When the waitress came over she said kindly that there was no brunch because the chef decided not to do it today. I got upset and was short with the waitress. My awesome son nicely reminded me that it wasn’t her fault and that I wasn’t very nice. I felt horrible. You know, that crappy pit you get in your stomach when you know you didn’t do the “right” thing. It sucks. But THEN….the waitress came back. I sincerely apologized and told her I realized it wasn’t her fault and again told her I was so sorry. (several times) Guess what? Yup. I felt great immediately, didn’t care about the dumb brunch that we couldn’t eat, and felt a happiness come over me and of course proceeded to leave her a kick butt tip on top of it. Doing the right thing feels great. We CAN affect our surroundings. The whole mood at my table changed after I apologized. Our mood affects others sometimes more than we realize. And I am grateful my son (who is 10 times more mature than me!) pointed out my unreasonable actions to me. Sooooooo, it doesn’t matter what you call it. (karma or anything else) If you consistently try to have positive and kind actions, better things WILL happen in your life. People love to be around a positive person because they feel good about themselves…..and maybe, just maybe, more positives things start to happen. It can’t hurt to just try it.

My Juice Cleanse Experience

I am back to let you know how the cleanse went. Listed are a few side effects that I had… which I have not had in my previous juice cleanses. I am still suspicious that I was fighting a virus due to the fact that most people in my life have been ill the past two weeks.

My cleanse was delivered to my door in a cooler bag with eighteen juices. I chose the three day cleanse 2 which contains green juice(S), citrus, lemon cayenne, and the most delicious dessert like almond drink for dinner. They all vary in natural sugar content and the cold pressed almond drink contains a bit more calories that seemed to settle my stomach for a good nights sleep.

A few things I experienced:

1) Never, ever plan to prepare a great amount of food for others when you are drinking juice. I planned meals like cereal and oatmeal as oppose to eggs and home cooked breakfasts I usually feed my kids. They were happy and content with their favorite cereal in the morning. I prepared their lunch at night while I felt satisfied with my almond drink and had my sweet boyfriend prepared dinners at night. I am thankful I have a guy who prepares delicious, healthy food to hold the fort down.  I did prepare them the easiest crockpot meal on earth that every household should prepare for chicken stew lovers.

2) My hunger would usually strike right around juice #5–mostly because I do not particularly love this blend of spicy lemonade. Don’t get me wrong, I love lemon water with a pinch of cayenne but this one is not my steeze.. Instead, I made my own. This was when our BEC tonic saved my cleanse life. Having a hot water after drinking cold all day is amazing. It sounds so simple but these simple things become strait bliss when you are on juice for days..

3) DO not set yourself up for failure! I reminded myself that many of us may feel like engulfing your furniture at some point during the cleanse. If a few techniques (breathe deep, nap, read a book, anything) do not work then be prepared with a few organic almonds (soaked in water overnight) , a clean and simple soup, or a light smoothie. How do you know when you should have a little “extra’? You will know. Shaky, starving, or “off”… grab a little something. You want this to be a positive experience. The almond drink saved my life every night.

4) Nap. I slept a LOT during my cleanse. If I did not cohabitate with angel children then this would not happen. I think I either napped or fell asleep early to gain an extra 5 hours of sleep each day. I have never experienced this in a cleanse(or life) because I had never been so tired. I freaking missed the most awful (but awesome) show on earth (the RHOBH<– see how I coded that so only the peeps know who KNOW) It was amazing.

5) This is the number that I am still confused about. I had a BANGING headache that would come and go. Now, I could have been fighting off a virus but whatever it was this detox was involved. I started my cleanse because I could feel my body was really off balance and incredibly achy. It subsided after practicing hot yoga. Each time I sweat and moved a bit I felt like a billion bucks. I was on such a high I wanted to write my teacher love notes. This could be different for each person depending on who you are(as far as movement). I do feel like a little sauna action(sweat) to make sure to move the toxins through is important. I would suggest a minimum of a brisk walk each day…

6) Do something for yourself. Get rubbed on by a professional. Getting a massage will help move the toxins through your body…. get a facial with someone who uses natural ingredients. Don’t feel bad. It’s for your health!

7) Each cleanse and each person is different. I feel as though this has been the most successful cleanse I have done yet. I rated my energy levels a 6 (on a scale of 1-10) pre cleanse and yesterday I was feeling a 10. My stomach is feeling a million times better and I have yet to truly break the cleanse. I have had a few more juices, nuts, and a bit of salmon but have not had any added or refined sugar, dairy, or grains. I will eventually be adding things back in but right now my body is just too damn happy.

My skin is brighter, my body feels lighter, and yes it is all rainbows from here. I have revamped my love for hot yoga and have meditation goals for the future.
