Matcha, Matcha, MATCHA!

Have y’all read this {HILARIOUS} article about matcha and why you (and I) should be drinking it everyday?  It is very convincing.

Side note, I am not a Starbucks fan.  At all.  And I haven’t tried the writer’s idea of snagging one for $.87 there yet.  But I am definitely going to the next time I am on the road and need some matcha in my life.

But, as soon as I read this article I ran to my nearest Whole Foods and scooped up a box of matcha powder.  Below is the kind I got and it was expensive ($18) but from now on I will order this or this kind from Amazon.


For my first attempt, I heated up a cup and a half of water then whisked in a teaspoon of matcha.  I’m not going to lie.  I was terrified and I drink A LOT of green drinks.  I had zero expectation of what this would taste like and I have to tell you, it is totally doable.

It tastes to me like the tea you get at your local Chinese restaurant but 10x stronger…and not in a bad way.  It’s not bitter, in fact it’s very smooth.  I enjoyed it to the last drop.

Since then, I have started adding it to my ice water at least once a day and I love it!  The writer of the convincing article suggests that matcha, among other things, fights cancer, improves skin, gives you better breath, and can cure your hangover!

What’s not to love??!!!  Thanks Gigi Engle for this hilarious and super informative article.  We heart you!

    Great article! That girl is hilarious! You can also put Matcha into your smoothies. It tastes great with plain greek yogurt, a little local honey, almond milk and cinnamon. I get the culinary grade for the purest form.
