7-11…Your New Go To for To Go?!!

I just read the wildest (or should I say spookiest in honor of Halloween?) article y’all.

The gist is this: 7-11 is (seemingly) cleaning up its act.  Instead of just offering the usual gas station suspects such as hot dogs, soda, cheetos, and lunchables (sick), 7-11 is planning to offer cold pressed juices, quinoa salad, turkey sandwiches, hummus (swoon) and an array of other “healthy” options.

711

I mean, no brainer, this is great news, right?  But the researcher in me wants to know what exactly is IN these new options?  Isn’t it sad when something is labeled as healthy, natural, or good for you…it means nothing and we are left to our own devices to decide if the product is truly safe to put in our bodies or bring home to our families?  Sad but true.

Like many (most) of you, I eat on the go a lot so how great would it be to not have to meticulously plan and pack a cooler for every road trip?  It would be amazing to pop into 7-11 (they are every where in the mid-atlantic), get a healthy snack and keep moving.

Let me know if you have tasted any of these new products…I’m sure Tiffany and Mary are dying to see some ingredient lists too!

Have a great Halloween with your friends and family, be safe and make sure to implement the SWITCH WITCH!

This is most certainly a step in the right direction! A cold pressed juice in 7 eleven……WHAT?
I must say if I were passing by I might think of entering. It’s been about 15 years that I have actually walked into a 7 eleven but it looks like it could happen now.
BUT….don’t get too excited. Tony Horton is a guru when it comes to fitness…..but nutrition….not so much. He is famous for putting a lot of preservatives, harmful chemicals, and dyes in his own branded products. Once the sandwiches and such come out and I can actually find the ingredient lists (searched to no avail) we will keep you informed. Bottom line….if you can replace a Slurpee with a cold pressed juice…..I may be a fan. In a small way….but still a fan.

Several 7-11s in the Richmond, VA area are already doing this, one near VCU’s campus is where I go to get a healthy hummus (sabra), or hard boiled egg duo snack!
